In 1999, the Green Mountain Fund for Popular Struggle (VT) provided a grant in support of Mountain Pride Media's Green Mountain Tour (GMT). One of the largest statewide Outreach initiatives to be taken on by MPM, the GMT was designed to conduct writing workshops and receptions in each county of Vermont. The tour was completed in 2001, with 12 of 14 counties being visited.
     The Green Mountain Tour was a program to expand recognition of Mountain Pride Media and Out in the Mountains throughout the state, promote our web site, provide community accessibility to the Editor and the Board of Directors, and encourage volunteerism with Mountain Pride Media.
     The writing workshops, led by the Out in the Mountains editor, provided technical assistance in the fundamentals of writing as an effective organizing mechanism and tool for social change. The workshop was then followed by a reception with members of the Mountain Pride Media Board of Directors and Staff that promoted the services we offer to LGBTQ Vermonters and sought feedback from attendees about the barriers they face to accessing Vermont's vibrant and active LGBTQ community.
