| Arts & Entertainment Gay Music Festival Samadhi Singers Sing | | ||

Selections ranged from Broadway hits to classic choral favorites. On two numbers, skilled piping added to the charm of the Samadhi Singers tones. Many of the songs featured soloists: Michael Brown, Wayne Hobbs, Anne Clark, Josh Slade, Pasha Rivers-McMahon, and Chris Leslie. A duet featured Chuck Franklin and George Reynolds. Adding touches of class to the music were clarinet and penny whistle.
The evenings finale was a performance of These Green Mountains, the newly-dedicated Vermont State Song written by Diane B. Martin. Ms. Martin attended and offered this reflection tonight, as I listened to the Samadhi Singers beautiful rendition, I heard the line look with pride on the golden dome in a way I never had before. I felt proud that the song crossed all borders to include every Vermonter, and the meaning of pride within the song took on a new significance. It is my hope that Vermonts gay community can embrace the song and sing it proudly.
All of the evenings proceeds were donated to the R.U.1.2? organization.
