SafeSpace to Share Space with R.U.1.2? Community Center
Merger looks for new name

BURLINGTON — Two major LGBT organizations have finalized plans to merge into one, as SafeSpace anticipates completing its move to the R.U.1.2? Queer Community Center by the first of October.
The announcement was made at the R.U.1.2? dinner in May. Christopher Kaufman, the center’s executive director since 2002, told the crowd that Kara DeLeonardis, executive director of SafeSpace since its inception, will direct the as-yet unnamed new organization. Kaufman earlier announced his plans to step down as director of R.U.1.2?
The newly assembled organization will work from the offices at 34 Elmwood Ave., across from the main post office in Burlington.
